So, who do we believe?

The Thinking Anglicans  site is running these comments [here] casting a certain amount of doubt on the Church's vehement denials that it had been consulted over the proposed marriage redefinition legislation.
It's quite clear-cut, isn't it? Do we take the word of pragmatic, shifty politicians and their advisors who virtually 'spin' the news for a living, or that of the unworldly and forthright leaders and spokesmen of a Christian Church, who wouldn't have a devious bone in their bodies? 
Anglican traditionalists, who have relied on the promises of senior ecclesiastics over the years, might be forgiven for wondering whether credibility in this instance can be quite so easily determined...
